About The PTA

The Rosemary Hills PTA works closely with our Administration and teachers to make each year at Rosemary Hills the best possible school experience for our children. The PTA funds myriad programs, from cultural arts initiatives to classroom technology improvements to teacher resource stipends.  We also sponsor numerous community-building activities, including back-to-school and end-of-year family picnics, Movie Night, and parent get-togethers.  The PTA relies on parents to help us with these events – from funding them to leading them to volunteering at each of them.  Check out our Get Involved page for more details on how you can help!

  • Kindergarten Playdates – The PTA coordinates playdates at the beginning of the year for kindergarten families to get to know one another, including class-specific playdates after school starts. Look for information in your child’s backpack in the first week of school!
  • Bus Arrival & Dismissal – For the first few weeks of school, the PTA helps coordinate volunteers who come to the school for arrival and dismissal times to help make sure all our students (especially the kindergarteners) get to and from class safely and onto the right bus home.
  • Back-to-School Picnic – At the beginning of each school year we hold a picnic for Rosemary Hills families. Families bring blankets or chairs, the PTA provides pizza and water, and there’s a DJ for entertainment.  It’s a wonderful way to get to know some of the other families at the school in a relaxed setting.
  • Movie Night – Bring the whole family to school in your jammies for a fun movie with popcorn and candy! Each year the PTA shows an age-appropriate movie at the school – kids love to bring their blankets and stuffies for a night with friends.
  • Rhino Run & Thanksgiving Boxes – Kids and families are invited to the school to participate in a 1 mile fun run. Rosie the Rhino (the school mascot) is on hand to cheer everyone on.  After the run, we all work together to fill Thanksgiving food boxes to share with families in the Rosemary Hills school community who made need them.
  • Book Fair/Literacy Week – The PTA partners with Child’s Play to curate and offer a wonderful selection of age-appropriate books for your readers. The Book Fair is open all week as each class has a turn and families are invited to join in at the school-sponsored Literacy Night.  As part of Literacy Week, the PTA also funds literacy-focused assemblies for all classes.
  • Artist-in-Residence – The PTA funds a week-long artist-in-residence program each year that provides every class with the opportunity to participate in an in-depth cultural arts experience. Past years have included building a butterfly garden and painting a school mural.
  • Multicultural Night – Multicultural Night is an evening spent learning and living culture through geography, clothing, art, music, and dance. Families in the school create country/ethnic displays to help others learn about different backgrounds, children walk in a parade of nations wearing native dress, and a delicious parent-provided potluck caps off the evening.
  • Auction/Fundraising – Each year the PTA puts on a number of fundraising events, from a parent get-together at the beginning of the year to a holiday shopping night at Child’s Play to a “Rosemary Hills Night” at local restaurants. Our biggest event of each year is our auction – it serves as a great way to help the school while bidding on some great items!
  • Field Day – Field Day is a great opportunity for your kids to have some end-of-year fun outside. The PTA puts on a great day of games, races, and other activities during the school day – kids have a blast at the event!
  • End-of-Year Party – We wrap up the school year with a fantastic party on the school field, with a DJ, food, and a pop-up book fair. It’s a great way to say “see you later!” as everyone heads off for summer fun.

The PTA also provides pizza for Math and Literacy Nights, works with room parents to put on class parties for Halloween and Valentines Day, gives each teacher a stipend to purchase instructional items for the classroom, and provides regular landscaping for the school.  Rosemary Hills is a special place and we welcome your ideas and involvement to support our children!
